Philosophising about the 'S'-word: Watch… and learn
Once Upon a Time is an American fairy tale drama series created by Lost and Tron: Legacy writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. It premiered on Sunday, October 23, 2011, on ABC. The show takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, the residents of which are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the “real world” town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline in Storybrooke, as well as a secondary storyline usually from another point in a character’s life before the curse was enacted.
Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison, How I Met Your Mother), a bail bond agent and her birth-son, Henry (Jared S. Gilmore, Mad Men) discover that a New England town, aptly named Storybrooke, Maine, is actually a remnant of a parallel world that was cursed by the Evil Queen Regina (Lana Parrilla, Spin City). The characters from this world are from fairy tales (the main part of the fairy tale world being the Enchanted Forest) and a few that aren’t from fairy tales, They have no memory of who they were, including the parents of Emma: Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin, Big Love) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas), who sent her to the real world to save their world and break the curse.
