Philosophising about the 'S'-word: Watch… and learn

the series philosopher archer wikiArcher is an American animated comedy television series created by Adam Reed (Frisky Dingo) for the FX network.  The first season premiered on January 14, 2010.

Set at ISIS, the International Secret Intelligence Service in New York City, suave and incredibly self-centered master spy Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin, Bob’s Burgers) deals with global espionage; his domineering, emotionally distant mother and boss, Malory Archer (Jessica Walter, Arrested Development); his ex-girlfriend (and fellow ISIS agent), Lana Kane (Aisha Tyler, Friends, Ghost Whisperer); and his other ISIS co-workers: including fellow agent Ray Gillette (Adam Reed), accountant Cyril Figgis (Chris Parnell, 30 Rock), Human Resources Director Pam Poovey (Amber Nash, Frisky Dingo), dimwitted secretary Cheryl Tunt (Judy Greer, Arrested Development, Two and a Half Men), and Applied Research head Doctor Krieger (Lucky Yates, Frisky Dingo); as well as a code name: “Duchess” (after his mother’s deceased Afghan Hound).

The inspiration for Archer came to Adam Reed while in a café in Salamanca, Spain. Finding himself unable to approach a beautiful woman seated nearby, Reed conjured up the idea of a spy who “would have a perfect line” and pitched his idea to FX.
